Who Is That Girl in the Jay FFA Jacket

Raised in a Barn has been a real dream to me. I have enjoyed the ability to share my love for agriculture with everyone as well as shine a little light on farmers, ranchers, and 4H and FFA members. Lately there have been a lot of questions about who the girl in the Jay FFA jacket is. Well that would be me; Breanna Viles and those pictures would be from when I use to show livestock about two years ago. So here is a little back story on how Raised in a Barn all got started. ffaffa raised(That would be me in the middle with my State Farmer Degree)

I started showing pigs at 8 years old, my dad took me to my first show and I watched my county show and just fell in love with the whole thing. He had shown when he was in school so it just sounded like a good idea to get me started in the show world. I started out in 4H and kept progressing to bigger and bigger animals. I showed goats, heifers, and then later on steers (my favorite). My family supported my love for agriculture, and they never missed a show. They were always helping me prepare for a show and cheering me on all the way.

I attended high school at Jay Oklahoma and was heavily involved in Jay FFA, and had the best agriculture education instructor around. Mr. Dearl Cunningham really inspired me to get as involved as I could with FFA. I horse judged, livestock judged, and showed. Later on I served as the President of my chapter my Senior year. At the end of my high school FFA days I got to walk the stage at Oklahoma City and receive my State Farmer Degree. My passion for agriculture didn’t stop there though.

I attended my first two years of college at NEO A&M in Miami Oklahoma. While studying at NEO I became an Agriculture Ambassador for the school and had the opportunity to travel around to things like the National FFA Convention and recruit for NEO. So some of you FFA kids may have already met me, small world I know. I graduated from NEO this May with an Associate’s Degree in Science with an option in agriculture business. I am now headed to Oklahoma State University to study to obtain a Bachelors in Agriculture Communications.

During the summer I have interned for my home town newspaper Delaware County Journal/Grove Sun and I have thoroughly enjoyed writing the farm news. I recently just became a blogger for Stock Show Boutique. I constantly am thinking of things that would make for a great article, so I always have something to write about and fun to share.

After graduating college at Oklahoma State University (Go Pokes!) I plan on continuing working with the stock show industry and hopefully getting even more involved and well known. I am super blessed that my blog has went viral so fast, within about two weeks to be exact. Raised in a Barn is just a 20 year old Oklahoma girls dream, but thanks to all of the support it has started to become a reality.
